Summary:

She's just winging it, and it's going pretty well. She's young, attractive, and carefree, and that gets her a long way. She starts an affair with a colleague, because why not, she loves affairs, but this time it's different: for the first time, it's a woman, twice her age.
And she falls head over heels in love with that woman. That means she has to do something she's always avoided: taking things seriously.
In The Sum of My Failures it's about who you are in relation to another. Why you can never be honest with yourself, and therefore not with others. And why it's better to laugh about everything, even if it's not really funny. It is the disarming, witty, and exciting debut by Lou-Anna Druyvesteyn.
LOU-ANNA DRUYVESTEYN works in journalism, previously at Vrij Nederland and now at the public broadcaster.
